چکیده

Adenovirus (ADV)- or BK virus (BKV)-associated hemorrhagic cystitis (HC) is a common complication after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT). Several risk factors have been previously reported; however, it unclear whether virus-associated HC can be transmitted. To clarify this point, we performed retrospective cohort study on 207 consecutive patients who underwent allo-HSCT at Kyoto University Hospital between 2012 and 2018. We evaluated the incidence of phylogenetic analysis ADV partial sequence. The median age was 50 (range, 17–68) years. Fifty-eight (28%) developed HC. ADVs were detected in 18 cases, BKVs 51, both 12, only John Cunningham (JCV) 1 case. No factor significantly associated with However, ADV- BKV-HC occurred intensively April 2016 September 2017, which suggested possible nosocomial transmission BKV. Genome sequencing hexon, E3, penton regions identified 7 cases type 11, 2 35, 3 79-related strain. A sequence revealed that these strains each almost identical, except for one case In conclusion, ADV-HCs described based genotyping viral genome. Although thought to mainly due reactivation latent virus, BKV should also considered.

BK Virus-Associated Hemorrhagic Cystitis After Allogeneic Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation in the Pediatric Population.

OBJECTIVE To study the incidence, risk factors, and treatment of hemorrhagic cystitis secondary to BK-virus reactivation (HC-BKV) after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) in the pediatric population. METHODS Case-control study in which all pediatric patients (0-18 years) who underwent allo-HSCT from September 2009 to January 2014 were followed. RESULTS Twenty-nin...

Hemorrhagic cystitis following allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation.

We conducted a retrospective study to investigate the incidence, risk factors, and clinical features of hemorrhagic cystitis (HC) following allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation (allo-HCT). Adult patients who developed HC after allo-HCT were identified from the HCT database of the Asan Medical Center and their medical records were reviewed. From December 1993 to August 2001, a total of ...

BK virus-associated hemorrhagic cystitis after pediatric stem cell transplantation

Hemorrhagic cystitis is a common stem cell transplantation-related complication. The incidence of early-onset hemorrhagic cystitis, which is related to the pretransplant conditioning regimen, has decreased with the concomitant use of mesna and hyperhydration. However, late-onset hemorrhagic cystitis, which is usually caused by the BK virus, continues to develop. Although the BK virus is the mos...

Hyperbaric Oxygen: an important treatment modality in severe hemorrhagic cystitis after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.

OBJECTIVE Hemorrhagic cystitis (HC) is a generally self-limited complication of hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). It may occur in the early or late posttransplant period and can promote sometimes severe morbidity. We analyzed our data regarding HC in allogeneic HSCT patients in order to establish the efficacy of hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) therapy in severe HC and to document the main...

BK Virus-associated Hemorrhagic Cystitis in Patients with Allogeneic Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation: Report of Three Cases

BK viras is a human polyoma viras. It is acquired in early childhood and remains life-long latent in the genitourinary system. BK virus replication is more common in receiving immunosuppressive therapy receiving patients and transplant patients. BK virus could cause hemorrhagic cystitis in patients with allogeneic stem cell transplantation. Hemorrhagic cystitis is a serious complication of hema...
